Two new SBCA blog posts examine EPA's recent decision to stop monetizing health benefits associated with reducing fine particulate matter and ozone in its regulatory analyses. Susan Dudley of the George Washington University Regulatory Studies Center acknowledges concerns about past EPA practices but argues the agency has better options than removing those benefits from the analysis altogether. Caroline Cecot, also of George Washington University Law and a former SBCA president, argues the move lacks scientific or methodological justification and represents a significant departure from decades of bipartisan regulatory practice.
