GENERAL INFORMATION

Almost 170 people attended the SBCA 2025 Annual Conference March 13-14 at George Washington University in Washington, DC. The conference featured keynotes by Margaret Walls (Resources for the Future), who spoke on Fires, Floods, and Hurricanes: Policy Options for the New Normal, and Cass Sunstein (Harvard Law School), who updated attendees on Goods That People Buy But Wish Did Not Exist. In addition, Cary Coglianese, Director, Penn Program on Regulation; Don Goodson, Executive Director, Institute for Policy Integrity; Alan Krupnick, Senior Fellow, Director, Industry and Fuels Program, Resources for the Future; Roger Nober, Director, GW Regulatory Studies Center; and Sanjay Patnaik, Director, Brookings Center on Regulation and Markets—all experts who served as peer reviewers—participated in a panel discussion moderated by Jennifer Baxter (Industrial Economics, Inc.), reflecting on the U.S. Regulatory Policy in the New Administration: Perspectives from Leading Regulatory Centers.

The first two days of the conference also included 27 parallel sessions of individual paper presentations and roundtable discussions on benefit-cost analysis in environmental economics and sustainability; health economics and public health; policy evaluation and regulatory impact; social equity and distributional analysis; and behavioral economics and decision-making; and opportunities for networking with fellow benefit-cost analysis professionals from around the world.
