European Conference 2026

The SBCA 2026 European Conference will be held on September 17-18, 2026, in Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.The Leeds University Business School (LUBS) will host the conference.

The conference aims to advance the use of benefit-cost analysis (BCA) across scientific discourses as a tool for informed policy and investment decisions. It promotes methodological excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and practical relevance in evaluating projects, programs, and regulations. By fostering dialogue across academic disciplines and policy domains, the conference supports the broader goal of enhancing societal well-being through more effective public choices.

  • March 15 - April 30, 2026: Abstract submissions accepted
  • May 21, 2026: Abstract notifications sent; registration opens for accepted presenters
  • May 28, 2026: Registration launches
  • June 28, 2026: Presenter registration deadline, early (discounted) registration ends
  • July 30, 2026: Session assignments sent to accepted presenters
  • August 6, 2026: Program available
  • August 31, 2026: Registration closes

Call for Abstract Submissions

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit extended abstracts and proposals for thematic sessions for the 2026 SBCA European Conference. The conference welcomes both theoretical and empirical contributions that apply methods used to support public sector decision-making, including benefit-cost analysis, cost analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, risk-benefit analysis, and damage assessment.

Submissions may address any topic related to benefit-cost analysis, including nonmarket valuation, discounting, equity, social policy, regulatory analysis, and the implementation of BCA, as well as applications across policy areas such as environment, transport, energy, aging, and health care.

Extended abstracts (up to 500 words) and thematic session proposals are due April 30.
