Host the SBCA European ConferenceThe Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis invites expressions of interest from universities and research institutions interested in hosting a future SBCA European Conference. The SBCA European Conference brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from across Europe and beyond to advance the theory and practice of benefit-cost analysis. Past conferences have drawn 100 or more attendees and 50 or more speakers, and have taken place at leading universities across Europe. Hosting the conference is an opportunity to position your institution at the center of an important and growing international conversation. About the Conference The SBCA European Conference is typically held over two days in September, October, or November. The program generally includes a mix of plenary sessions and three to four concurrent breakout sessions, along with a conference lunch and networking breaks. SBCA expects at least 100 attendees and at least 50 speakers, though past conferences have varied in scale. The conference is organized as an SBCA-branded event. The host institution leads all local planning and logistics, with SBCA providing support in registration, promotion, and branding. To get a sense of what past conferences have looked like — including program formats, themes, and registration arrangements — we encourage prospective hosts to review highlights from past SBCA European Conferences. What Hosting Involves The host institution is responsible for local planning and logistics, including venue selection, abstract submission management, program development, speaker recruitment, and all food, beverage, and audiovisual arrangements. The host institution also assumes financial responsibility for the conference, which is expected to be largely self-financing through registration fees. SBCA will:
Each conference has two co-chairs: one identified by SBCA and one identified by the host institution. Selection Criteria SBCA selects the host organization based on the combination of leadership, facilities, and financial planning that best positions the conference for success and advances the Society's mission. Selected organizations will be notified approximately six to eight weeks after the submission deadline. How to Apply Expressions of interest for the 2027 European Conference are due by May 15, 2026. Submit your expression of interest using the form below. You do not need to have every detail finalized. SBCA expects to work closely with the selected institution to shape the conference.
